Classic Sandwich Bread

Instructions

    Combine warm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes.

    Add flour, salt, and butter. Mix and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.

    Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.

    Punch down, shape into a log, and place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.

    Cover and let rise 45-60 minutes until dough rises 1 inch above the pan rim.

    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.

    Remove from pan immediately and cool on a wire rack.

Baker's Tips

  • For a softer crust, brush the top with melted butter right after baking.
  • To test doneness, the internal temperature should read 190°F (88°C).
  • Slice when completely cool to prevent squishing.
